It’s just two days but may be already you noticed Google results coming with two buttons “promote” and “Remove”. What is that ?

Google launched SearchWiki at 20th November, they called “make search your own”.

Have you ever wanted to mark up Google search results? Maybe you’re an avid hiker and the trail map site you always go to is in the 4th or 5th position and you want to move it to the top. Or perhaps it’s not there at all and you’d like to add it. Or maybe you’d like to add some notes about what you found on that site and why you thought it was useful. Starting today you can do all this and tailor Google search results to best meet your needs.

SearchWiki lets user to put notes for links, and you can see other’s note by clicking “See all notes for this SearchWiki” at bottom of the search results page.

Quite interesting, Google going to take the market of digg/delicious ?

Did you hear about “new” operating system from microsoft named “Mojave”?

Microsoft last week traveled to San Francisco, rounding up Windows XP users who had negative impressions of Vista. The subjects were put on video, asked about their Vista impressions, and then shown a “new” operating system, code-named Mojave. More than 90 percent gave positive feedback on what they saw. Then they were told that “Mojave” was actually Windows Vista. (CNET)

Lately, probably a ‘cool’ suggestion would be ‘why not test drive a hackintosh‘… to forget, at least, vista experience!!

Recent rumor is Sachalayatan, a Bangla group blog banned by Bangladdesh government. It’s true no one from Bangladesh could access sachalayatan.com.

I tried ping, and it’s worked fine.

No doubt only some port, probably only ‘80′ port blocked (DNS works fine). You can access (those from Bangladesh) all other ports, and won’t get any more “The connection has timed out”.

Solution from sachalayatan is very much simple, change your apache port from 80 to something else.

Question is, who blocked this ‘port’ therefore sachalayatan.com ? May by BTTB (BTCL), newspapers said BTTB refuse to comment anything about sachalayatan.

Big question, is it done by sachalayatan itself? They off course could done this to get media publicity by filtering only IP’s from Bangladesh. This “Sachalayatan blocked” news could publicize them well as recent ‘freedom fighter’ issues involved. However, nothing confirmed, and there is no reason to claim something without knowing exactly what happened or happening.

Whoever blocked, no one from Bangladesh could access sachalayatan directly, people browsing them by using online proxies and/or other way out there.

UPDATE
Sachalayatan not blocking themself, confirmed. It’s good to know that they are not the culprit but it’s indicating something unfortunate issues!

BTTCL down at this moment since 2 AM BDT either because of submarine cable disconnected or for some unknown ‘upgrade’!!

A little test to understand the problem not at Sachalayatan end:

Try to visit:
1. http://www.sachalayatan.com/
2. https://www.sachalayatan.com/~sachalay/ (accept the SSL warning)

(1) and (2) serving from same server and locate same page. If you can’t access (1) but can access (2) what that means? No IP filtered and no technical fault from sachalayatan server, the problem reside at the middle of your connection (BTCL).

Localization and translation of Meghdut was paused, let’s face it, due to lack of translator. Off course we not forget all those contribution and thanks a trillion to who worked hard and spent hundreds of hours to translate wordpress strings to Bangla.

And yes, we’re almost there, very few left, from a dedicated point of view.

In short, for those lazy one: The Chomskybot is a program that generates paragraphs which appear similar to those in the corpus of Noam Chomsky’s linguistic works, but are humorously devoid of any meaning, by combining at random phrases taken from Chomsky’s actual works. The Chomskybot is derived from another program called Foggy, which originally generated “fake” managerese —i.e., the language of business management.
