‘Banglasavvy‘ is a Virtual Bangla Font Installer for Windows XP/2000/98/NT. It will let you install ‘Bangla Font’ virtually to any system regardless of Administrator privilege. That means when you have limited access to some PC and do not have permission to install anything including fonts, this tool will be very handy then.
Banglasavvy designed to work without any installation, just download – the file size is quite small – and Run. This tool itself contain the font. At first run, it will extract the font, then ‘virtually’ install it to the windows. While the Banglasavvy running, The Bangla Font will be available and accessible from any windows application including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint, Frontpage etc. Though Banglasavvy is designed to read-view Bangla websites from PC has limited user permission, i.e. Office Desktop, Cyber Cafe etc.

মাঝে অনেক দিন বাংলা ফন্ট প্রজেক্ট নিয়ে কিছু করা সম্ভব হয়নি। আমাদের লোগোটা (বাঙালীয়ানা) যার হাতে করা সেই শাহীন ভাই বললেন, কোমর বেঁধে লাগবেন…তারপর ব্যস্ত হয়ে গেলেন…বেচারা…উনি আবার দম ফেলার সময় পেলে, ওনাকে নিয়ে বসা হবে…
মাঝে, আরও কয়েকজনকে উদ্বুদ্ধ করলাম, উৎসাহী সবাই…কিন্তু কাজের কাজ তো আর হয় না! বাংলা ভাইয়ের পরীক্ষা গেল, আমার তো সব-সময়ই ‘উড়নচন্ডী ব্যস্ততা’!!
তবে, ‘বিবর্তন কনভার্টার’-এর কাজ নিয়ে প্রোগ্রাম করে, গতকাল হঠাৎ করে ফন্ট নিয়ে কাজ শুরু হলো…’আকাশ’ নামে ফন্ট-টাকে ‘সাইজ’ করা দিয়ে…যদিও আমি বলেছিলাম ‘বাংলা’ ফন্টটা প্রথমে দলাই-মলাই করা হোক…
‘আকাশ’ — এই বাংলা ফন্ট আমি এককালে সবসময় ব্যবহার করতাম, এখন করি ‘লিখন’…’আকাশ’-টাকে কে বা কাহারা মাঝে আপডেটের নামে অকেজো করে দিয়েছিলো…যাহোক, গত সারাটা রাত টানা খাঁটা-খাঁটুনির পর আকাশ মশায়ের নব-জন্ম হয়েছে…যৌবনদীপ্ত করে ক’দিনের মধ্যেই জনতার কাছাকাছি পৌঁছে দেয়া যাবে…
যদিও, ‘আকাশ’ ফন্ট-টাকে ঘষা-মাজার পরিমাণ অনেক অনেক বাড়াতে হবে, এর অনেক গ্লিফই কাঁচা কাজ…পাঁকা করা প্রয়োজন, যা করার আশা আমরা পোষণ করি, রয়ে-সয়ে সবই করার ইচ্ছেটা আমাদের আছে।
শেষ সুখবর এই — আমাদের ঘনিষ্ঠ একজন শেষতক এগিয়ে এসেছেন, নতুন ফন্টের কিছু নমুনা এঁকে দিয়েছেন, সেগুলি নিয়ে আগত মাসের শুরুতে পুরোদমে আমাদের ‘ফন্ট-কারখানা’-য় কাজ চলবে…

pressure and even higher cholesterol level Sir”

Operator : “Try our Low Fat Hokier Mea Pizza.You’ll like it”
Customer: “How do you know for sure?”
Operator : “You borrowed a book entitled “Popular Hokier Dishes” from
the National Library last week Sir”
Customer: “OK I give up… Give me three family sized ones then, how
much will that cost?
Operator : “That should be enough for your family of 10, Sir. The
total is 49.99 Taka
Customer: “Can I pay by credit card?”
Operator : “I’m afraid you have to pay us cash, Sir. Your credit card
is over the limit and you’re owing your bank 3720.55 Taka since
October last year”
Operator : “That’s not including the late payment charges on your
housing loan Sir.
Customer: “I guess I have to run to the neighborhood ATM and withdraw
some cash before your guy arrives”
Operator : “You can’t Sir. Based on the records,you’ve reached your
daily limit on machine withdrawal today”
Customer: “Never mind just send the pizzas, I’ll have the cash ready.
How long is it gonna take anyway?”
Operator : “About 45 minutes Sir, but if you can’t wait you can always
come and collect it on your motorcycle…”
Customer: ” What !”
Operator : “According to the details in system, you own a
Scooter,…registration number E1123…”
Customer: ” *’!^ *%^**%^I7*”
Operator : “Better watch your language Sir. Remember on 15th July 1987
you were convicted of using abusive language on a policeman…
Customer: [Speechless]
Operator : “Is there anything else Sir?”
Customer: “Nothing… by the way… aren’t you giving me that 3 free
bottles of cola as advertised?”
Operator : “We normally would Sir, but based on your records you’re
also diabetic……. ”
যান্ত্রিক ত্রুটির কারণে বিমান ক্রাশ করছে। যাত্রী মোট চারজন। একজন পাইলট, একজন নেতা, একজন শিক্ষক, অপরজন ছাত্র। বিমানে প্যারাসুট আছে তিনটি!
একটা প্যারাসুট নিয়ে পাইলট বললো, “আমি লাফিয়ে পড়ছি, আমাকে তাড়াতাড়ি রিপোর্ট করতে হবে যে বিমান ক্রাশ করছে।”
নেতা একটি প্যারাসুট নিয়ে বললেন, “দেশ ও জাতির জন্য আমার অনেক কিছুই করার এখনো বাকি। তাই আমার বেঁচে থাকা দরকার।”
অবশিষ্ট যাত্রী দু’জন, শিক্ষক ও ছাত্র।
শিক্ষক, “ওরা তো দুইটা নিয়ে গেল। এখন প্যারাসুট আছে একটা। অতএব, তুমি ছোট তোমার দীর্ঘ জীবন সামনে। তুমিই ওটা নিয়ে নেমে যাও।”
ছাত্র, ” স্যার, তার দরকার নেই। প্যারাসুট এখনো দুইটা আছে। কারণ নেতা সাহেব তাড়াতাড়ি করতে গিয়ে প্যারাসুট মনে কইরা আমার ব্যাগ নিয়ে লাফ দিয়েছেন…”
Around late 1987, a renowned business professional of our country, first floated the idea of forming of forming an association of the Computer Industry which could serve as a common base for this industry to express its views to the Government. The idea was that by forming a group or an association the interest of the group would be served better.
He was joined by other like minded forward looking persons and the first association took it shape with the formation of ad-hoc committee comprised of 11 companies. Mr.S M Kamal, who was the first to have the idea of the association, was selected as the Founder President, Mr.Aftab Ul Islam as the Vice President. These sponsor members played a pivotal role in bringing IT into national importance it enjoys today.
Around 1991, a draft Memorandum and Article of Association was prepared. It was then translated to Bangla and approved to comply with the existing rules and regulations of the Government. Bangladesh Computer Samity is the only licensed and registered body representing all the hardware and softwares vendors of our country. It is also the only Authorized Information Technology Association in Bangladesh.
And now-a-days Bangladesh Computer Samity is the voice of ICT industry of Bangladesh. It is the national association of the ICT companies in Bangladesh.

A lot there who wondered and not agree that Win 98/ME supports Unicode and/or You can read-write Unicode by using Win98/ME…But there is a big IF…
IF you have installed IE 6+, you have the ‘Microsoft Layer for Unicode’ or ‘MSCOWS.DLL’ which provides the Unicode functions…You can install it separately but just install IE6, [Optional] install MS Word XP (I forget, if Word XP don’t support win98 then install Word 2000)….
Install one Unicode Font, say Likhan…
Open/Browse any Unicode pages…it’ll displayed perfactly…only you may can’t see some special character i.e. অ্যা, র্য etc…
Even you can write Bangla using Unicode…but remember there is some potential fact that you must consider…
Note: Only these App let you read-write Unicode properly which developed with the Unicode support for Win98/ME – ‘Microsoft Layer for Unicode’ for Win98/ME [meant, which application utilize 'mscows.dll']
Once, long ago, I’ve to use Win98/ME to test my products, and I was able to read Unicode Bangla post at OmicronLab Forum [old post, search, you'll find my note that 'I am using Win98')...
AVRO KEYBOARD don't support Win98/ME just because the hook dll [third party] dosen’t support Win98/ME…
Microsoft stops supporting the old but great OS and I’m very happy…other than peoples won’t move to Win2000/XP and we (developers) can’t uses advanced features [i.e Unicode]…now we can..we have lot users, we don’t have to panic about win 98/ME anymore…
The hidden truth is I was wating for this moment, when people will leave Win98…when…when…I’ve done some Unicode project long ago, but can’t release…now, I’ll release them…I can forget ‘Win98/ME’…and now I can be real BanglaSavvy …just jocking!
